Madison’s Bulldogs improved many aspects of their game, including their problems with foul trouble, and earned a narrow victory over Burlingame, 47--41.
“It was one of those games that could’ve gone either way,” said Madison head coach Alan Brown. “Our guys kept their composure and hit some key free throws.”
The foul troubles, which have plagued Madison to this point in the season, were much improved, with Madison accumulating only 14 in the game.
“We did improve on the fouls,” Brown said. “I was very pleased with that.”
Caleb Hamilton was the high scorer for Madison, with 12 on the night. Henry Ott was also a key component, not just with his nine points, but with his other efforts on the floor.
“Henry had a couple of key steals and free throws down the stretch,” Brown said. “He’s a leader out there on the floor.”
The Bulldogs improved to 3-3 with the win.

The Lady Wolves got a very hot night from Shelby Robke as they pounced on the Lady Trojans.
Robke’s huge second quarter, consisting of four 3-pointers, gave Lebo a commanding halftime lead, one they wouldn’t come close to surrendering. She had a team-leading 19 points, with Morgan Laflin adding 8 to Lebo’s total.
The one thing that haunted the Lady Wolves was their lack of execution from the free-throw line, though their chances were limited: Lebo was 1-for-6.

The Chase County Lady Bulldogs rallied in the second quarter to overcome an early deficit to defeat Mission Valley on Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed after the first quarter, but their defense kicked into high gear and held the Lady Vikings to 14 points combined in the other three.
“[We] defensively stepped it up in the second half,” coach Gene WIndle said. “Having only 12 turnovers was the key to the game.”
Ashley Cahoone got the offense on the right foot, scoring seven of her team-leading 16 points in the first quarter. She also got 10 rebounds, giving her three consecutive double-doubles.
“Aubrey Watts took care of the ball,” Windle said. “The bench was [also] strong again in crucial times for the team win.”
Chase County also took advantage of free throws, going 12-for-23 from the line.
Coach Windle was quick to spread the praise around for the team’s success.
“Sequoia Shell turned up the “D” on their point guard to shut her down,” Windle said. “[She] was huge for the team.”

Madison girls 71,
Burlingame 55
Madison’s Lady Bulldogs used a big second quarter to surge ahead of Burlingame en route to a win.
Madison got outstanding offensive efforts from Morgan Stout and Shelby Buster, each surpassing 20 points in the victory.
“Both had good games,” coach Glen Stout said. “They started triple-teaming Buster inside, so we switched her outside with Morgan.”
That strategy worked out for Madison, as they outscored the Bearcats in three of the four quarters. They had a 10-point advantage in the second.
“The second quarter did go well,” Stout said. “ We played excellent defense and had three or four steals in it.”
Though Madison came out ahead easily on the scoreboard, Stout was impressed with their opponents.
“They were in better shape than we were,” Stout said. “ We played an excellent game; we just got tired. It won’t happen again.”
