Hornet men beat Bethany 89-61

Final: Emporia State men 89, Bethany 61
The Hornets picked up where they left off at the end of the first half, starting the second half on a 13-0 run and leading by as many as 33 on their way to blowing out Bethany.
Lamar Wilbern finished 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, and hit on 3-of-5 attempts from behind the 3-point arc. Robert Moores had 12 points and a game-high four assists, Jeremiah Box had 11 points and Tim Niles and Adam Holthaus each had 10. Shang Ping had nine points and a game-high nine boards.
ESU put up 50 points in the second half and shot 65 percent from the floor, finishing with 47 percent shooting for the game.
Halftime: Emporia State men 39, Bethany 33
After trailing by as many as eight points for the majority of the first half, Emporia State ended the half on a 16-2 run to take a six-point lead over the Bethany Swedes.
Lamar Wilbern led the charge for the Hornets in the first half, scoring 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting in the first half and also adding three rebounds and three steals. His skip pass to Jeremiah Box for a 3-pointer from the left wing gave the Hornets a 34-33 lead, and baskets by Wilbern and Robert Moores before the half helped the Hornets stretch the lead to six.
Moores had nine points, three assists and three rebounds for ESU in the opening half, Jeremiah Box had eight points and Shang Ping had seven. ESU shot just 34 percent in the first half to Bethany's 52 percent.
