Emporia State women 119, Harris-Stowe 35

Ida Edwards scored 20 points and had 19 rebounds as Emporia State crushed Harris-Stowe by 84 points.

The Lady Hornets didn't let up after building a 56-16 lead at halftime, coming out with a 10-0 run. ESU buried 10 threes in the second half and scored its 100th point on an Alli Volkens basket with 6:08 to go. Volkens and Sophia Lenard each had 18 points, Andrea Leiker had 17 and Cassondra Boston had 14, along with seven assists. Volkens joined Edwards as Hornets who notched a double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds. ESU (9-1) shot 53 percent for the game and forced 32 turnovers.

Harris-Stowe played just six players, and two of them fouled out. Harris-Stowe had to play the final minute and a half with just four players.

Halftime

The Emporia State Lady Hornets scored almost at will in the first half, running to a 56-16 advantage over a 1-7 Harris-Stowe team.

ESU pushed the pace and put up 40 first-half shots, making 19. Alli Volkens had 12 points in the first half, including 6-of-6 from the foul line, to go with five rebounds. Ida Edwards grabbed nine boards for the Hornets and scored nine points. Emporia grabbed 27 first-half rebounds to Harris-Stowe's 17, and the Hornets forced 16 turnovers.
