Chase ends in arrest

Saturday, December 20, 2008

Calvin Browning, 47, of Emporia, was arrested Wednesday following a chase that started in Emporia, went into the county and ended back in Emporia.

Sgt. David Devries, of the Emporia Police Department, said the police department got a call of a possible drunk driver around 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sixth Avenue and Prairie Street. Officers attempted to stop the driver, but he didn’t stop. Officers pursued Browning east on Logan Avenue out of Emporia. Emporia police was called off when the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office took over. The Kansas Highway Patrol put stop sticks out in front of Browning’s car. Browning continued to drive and drove back into Emporia on Old Highway 50. He was stopped in the 1800 block of East Sixth Avenue, Devries said.

Browning was arrested and is charged with felony DUI, felony attempt to elude, reckless driving, driving with a revoked driver’s license, overtaking a school bus that had its stop sign out, stop sign violation and speeding.

There were no injures as a result of the chase.

Since this will be the 5th time for getting a DUI and all the other charges, maybe the court system will finally put this lowlife puke back in prison for a long time, I cant believe that he has got away with so many DUI's, you can find his complete arrest records, the times he has been in the prison system at DOC. and dont blame it on his parents or anything else, no one is to blame for this piece of crap is him himself.

Apparently prison isn't enough of a deterrent for for some people to straighten up. I think it's time for for some more effective punishment.

Revoking a driver's license for life seems to do nothing to deter drunks like this one. He was driving this time on a revoked license. It's time to lengthen prison sentences. Costly to the taxpayer, yes, but short of hanging, what else?

I wonder if he is out on bail or if they even put him in jail, knowing this lawless system, (except for smokers) he is probably drinking right now. What a RAP sheet on this scumbag

Guess I will answer my own question about this scumbag, Yep, seems as though he is OUT of jail.Last nights paper reports that he was again arrested, this time for "disorderly conduct".

What kind of judge would allow this pig to be able to bail out of jail, after all of the DUI's that he has, and as the paper reported how many charges he received in the car chase.

No one is safe in Emporia as long as this piece of crap is allowed to live outside of jail, I hope I am wrong, but, he will do something again to put people in danger of thier lives like he did with the above chase.

what a horrible court system Lyon county has.
