Friday Thoughts

WITH ONLY five shopping days until Christmas, I am starting to panic about what present I should get the Emporia school superintendent. I used to be able to keep up with the superintendent when the school district offices were next door to The Gazette. But earlier this year, the district moved the office out to West Seventh Avenue and it has become hard to know what he likes any more.
During our time as neighbors, I recalled, he had a fondness for horticulture. He had this uncanny ability to grow weeds that stood more than 5 feet tall that really helped beautify our neighborhood. As I was sitting there thinking about his horticulture abilities I was staring at the school district building and I noticed something. In the vacant superintendent’s office, his plants were still on his window sill. Apparently, in the confusion of the move he must have forgotten to move them to his new office. Certainly he must be wondering where his plants are and perhaps a good Christmas present would be to reunite him with his plants? With no way to get into the building and no one caring for the plants, I wondered if we should call the Ethical Treatment of Plants organization to arrange an emergency plant rescue.
With the superintendent being clear across town now, I have no way to get a message to him. I would appreciate if someone can let the superintendent know that he left his plants in his old office and with no water, they are dying a very slow painful death.
Merry Christmas.

You say, " I am starting to panic about what present I should get the Emporia school superintendent. "
So why don't you march your self over to the Ed building, pack up the plants, and haul them over to him in his new office? Beats making fun of him. While you're at it, water and feed them would ya.

I read this as a light reading piece for entertainment. Create, why are you so sensitive about anything connected to education?? Relax a little and enjoy some humor once in a while. Fortunately for me, those who taught me had a sense of humor.

Chris Walker, I think your article in the paper PROBABLY let him know. and I kinda agree with create, sarcastic comments like "He had this uncanny ability to grow weeds that stood more than 5 feet tall that really helped beautify our neighborhood." are just a way to make fun of someone.

That was a hilarious article. It was obviously meant in jest. USNretireds comment was also hilarious(it's funny because it's true as they say).
When an why did the school district move? Did the "East side" of town get too bad for them? With computers and the internet it seems that the district could be run from just about anywhere so logistics obviously wasn't the reason. Huh? I wonder?
