Help the horses

WINDING ROAD Equine Rescue and Retirement has been nominated for a $250 matching grant through the Fans of Barbaro on the Alex Brown Racing Forum (www.alexbrownracing.com).
They need to raise the matching $250 by Sunday. I know this time of the year is a big fundraising time for several worthy charities, but if some of us could just put a $5 bill in an envelope and mail it to 1651 Old Highway 50, Waverly, KS 66871, we could make a huge difference in the care of these horses. Any donation is tax deductible. There is also web site, www.windingroadequinerescue.org.
I have volunteered at Winding Road for several months and can testify first hand the horses are well cared for and loved. It costs about $1,000 a month for grain to feed the horses and the operation is dependent on donations. Donations of hay are also needed.
For those of us who grew up loving horses but have no way to own one, supporting Winding Road by volunteering or donations can make a big impact on your life and the lives of the horses. These animals ask for nothing more than love, safety and food. Please help make a difference.
