The public is invited to a breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday in the Lyon County Courthouse, 430 Commercial St., in the jury assembly room. The Lyon County Coordinated Community Response Team will be adopting a plan to combat intimate partner violence in the Emporia community.
The Emporia area has seen an increase in reports of domestic violence and child sex abuse cases, according to a report by Marc Goodman, Lyon County attorney.
The Coordinated Community Response Team is composed of members of law enforcement, mental health, education, community corrections, social services, legal services, health care, community representatives and prosecutors.
The team is inviting the public to hear the plan to combat intimate partner violence. Those wishing to attend the breakfast should call SOS at 343-8799 by noon Thursday.
The program is sponsored by the Community Response Team and DELTA, a program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
