Aquatic Club’s Hatfield wins eight medals
The Emporia Aquatic Club ended its fall season at the Midwest Level I and Level II Championship Meets.
Maggie Hatfield earned eight medals at the Level I meet last Friday through Sunday in Topeka. She won first-place medals for the 50-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle; second-place medals in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 free, 100 backstroke and 100 individual medley; and a third-place medal in the 200 IM. The Aquatic Club also had competitors in the Level II meet on Dec. 6-7 in Newton. At that meet, Regan Hastert earned fourth place in the 50 backstroke, 8th in the 200 free, 11th in the 50 butterfly and 10th in the 100 freestyle. Stephanie Slayden took ninth place in the 100 backstroke and also participated in the 100 and 200 free races, as well as the 100 breaststroke and 50 backstroke. Other participants included Wyatt Mattas (50 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 free), Jordan Metz (200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke) and Jessi Loucks (50 breaststroke, 100 free).
