The Salvation Army Christmas campaign is running short and more toys are desperately needed for their toy drive.
Capt. Jeremiah Burris, of the Salvation Army, said the kettle campaign is running about 60 percent of its $28,000 goal. The total Christmas campaign is running at 70 percent of its $70,000 goal.
“Really, it’s what we expected,” Burris said. “Some of our average donors have become our clients this year. We’ve lost some of those donations. We knew the economy was going to be tough this year.”
Burris said the agency is in need of help with the Angel Trees.
“If you notice at Walmart, there’s two trees — one at each door — and there’s a lot of angels that are still left on the trees,” Burris said. “We’re going to end up buying a lot of toys.”
Burris said toys are needed for the 5- to 13-year-old age group.
