ON BEHALF of hospital patients throughout the state, many thanks to Katie Bacon, Kathryn Scherich and the Student Council group who worked very hard last month to ensure a successful blood drive at Emporia High School. Because of their enthusiasm and the giving spirit of the student body and teachers, we were able to collect 175 productive units of blood!
Because blood can be broken down into components, each pint has the potential of saving three different people. This means EHS’s blood drive could possibly save 525 lives! The recipient could be a premature baby, a young mother, a person facing heart surgery, joint replacement or organ transplant. It could even help a cancer survivor taking chemotherapy or a young leukemia victim.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this worthwhile event.
