Drug dogs hit twice at EHS

A drug dog hit twice during a planned search at Emporia High School last week.
According to EHS Principal Scott Sheldon, Thursday’s search was a planned event with the Emporia Police Department.
“An announcement of the search was made once police officers arrived at the building. Dogs were brought in to each all lockers, locker rooms, classrooms and a limited search of the parking lot,” said Nancy Horst of the school district.
One of the hits turned out to be nothing and a second warranted further police investigation of a vehicle in the parking lot.
“This was not a ‘lock down’ as the doors were not locked,” Horst said. “However, administration did limit anyone entering or leaving the building and students were asked to remain in the classrooms during the search.”
