The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at JavaCat-5, 610 Merchant St. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.

Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.

Tuesday

The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m., after dinner at the home of Norma Watson. The program will be a Christmas theme with a cookie exchange. Those who are interested in attending the meeting are to call Robin Beatty at 366-2594 for reservations.

The Noon Lions Club meets at noon in the Skyline Room of the ESU Memorial Union.

The Senior Singles Group for 50+ singles desiring Christian fellowship meets at noon at the Regency Gardens in the Best Western Hospitality House. The group orders off the menu and there is usually a program.

Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.

The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.

The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

Altrusa International of Emporia meets at 6 p.m. at the home of Jean Tidwell for the Presidents’ Christmas Party, gift exchange and SOS shower. Co-hostesses will be the past presidents. There will be no meeting on Jan. 1.

Flint Hills Area Vietnam Veterans meets at 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 5, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

Saturday

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport.

Sunday

The Flint Hills Chapter of the Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers meets from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Emporia Recreation Center, 313 W. Fourth Ave. Music is provided for dancing. Admission is by donation. Visitors are welcome.

Dec. 22

The Flint Hills China Painters meet at 9 a.m. at the Best Western. Visitors are welcome. Information: 342- 4064.

The Emporia Social Service Club meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of every month in the large white building at Fourth Avenue and Merchant St. (excluding the summer months). New members are always welcome. For more information, call Meredith at 342-8881.
