Students televising Emporia High sports

Live coverage of the Emporia High School basketball games started this week on local cable channel 8.
The EHS E-Vision crew will cover the games for live broadcasts and rebroadcasts during the regular season. Students in Corey Wiltz video broadcasting classes handle the video, announcing and technical support for the home games played at the high school.
The first broadcast was the girls’ basketball game with Hayden on Wednesday night. Today’s pep assembly and Winter Sports assembly also were to be broadcast at 2 p.m. Re-broadcasts of today’s assembly will be aired at noon and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The next opportunity for home team coverage will be Dec. 19, when the Spartans girls’ and boys’ teams take on Topeka High. Live coverage begins on Channel 8 at 6 p.m. The game will be re-broadcast immediately following the end of the boys’ game, approximately 9 p.m. Re-broadcasts also will be aired on Channel 8 the following Saturday and Sunday at noon and 7 p.m. each day.
The broadcast schedule for the rest of the season is:
• Jan. 9 against Shawnee Heights
• Jan. 16 against Washburn Rural
• Feb. 10 against Junction City
• Feb. 17 against Topeka West
• Feb. 24 against Seaman
All broadcasts will start at 6 p.m. and re-broadcasts will be aired immediately after the conclusion of the games and the following Saturday and Sunday at noon and 7 p.m.
The E-vision crew also will broadcast the Glaciers’ Edge Tournament live on January 29-31 at times to be announced.
