DALE AND CAROLYN DAVIS, who endowed a scholarship at the Flint Hills Technical College. The scholarship will provide financial assistance with preference for students from Lyon County.

• Emporia State University volleyball player Ting Liu, who was named to the first-team AVCA All-American.
• All the folks at the Dolly Madison plant, who can breathe a little easier now that Interstate Bakeries Corp. has been clear to come out of bankruptcy.
• Phillip Bennett who was named as the dean of The Teachers College. Bennett was associate dean of the Teachers College since 2001 and takes over for Tes Mehring.
• The ESU men’s and women’s basketball teams, who have made a good start on the season.
• The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club, which celebrated its 50th anniversary.
• John Kuhn, who was named president of the Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas.
• The people who have already pledged to the United Way of the Flint Hills and the people who will pledge soon in order to help close the wide gap between what has been raised and what needs to be raised.
• Chase County lawyer Douglas Jones, who was selected as the new magistrate judge in the Fifth Judicial District. He replaces John Conklin, who retired today.
