The Emporia Arts Council reported today that it surpassed its goal of 300 members for the 2008-09 fiscal year.
“We are simply ecstatic,” said Executive Director Melissa Windsor. “We have 120 new members as a result of this year’s membership drive. Total membership increased 67 percent over last year to 300.”
According to Windsor the success of the recent membership drive was threefold.
“It was obvious during this drive that new programming like Gaelic Storm, the New Year’s Eve Gala and Second City have brought new, first time attendees to EAC events,” said Windsor. “We are certainly glad to have these younger individuals and new families participating in the Arts Council.”
Windsor added, “It was also obvious that the excitement and anticipation of a new arts center, highlighted by the capital campaign, has generated additional interest. People are more aware of EAC and what it does.”
Windsor also attributed the record-setting membership drive to the various workshops, classes and other programming being delivered by EAC.
“Our Art Mobile travels across Emporia, Lyon County and counties beyond,” said Windsor. “Those participating in our class offerings continue to grow. People are seeing that memberships help fund more than just a season of performances.”
Individuals and families counted for 81 percent of all memberships. Businesses counted for 19 percent of all memberships. Memberships are still available by calling 620-343-6473 or e-mailing Windsor at info@emporiaksarts.org.
