The Emporia State women’s basketball team moved up two spots to No. 9 in this week’s USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Top 25. It is the 102nd week ESU has been in the top 10 since first appearing during the 1997-98 season, the most of any current NCAA Division II school.
The Lady Hornets travel to Central Missouri on Saturday. Tip-off from the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo. is set for 6 p.m.
EMS drops
two to Heights
The Emporia Middle School girls eighth grade teams both lost on Tuesday at home to Shawnee Heights.
Brianna Knight scored eight points and had seven rebounds in a 34-19 loss for the A-team. Addie Naylor scored six and had four rebounds for EMS, and Lauren Miller added three points.
Jessica Aranda led the B-team with eight points and three rebounds in a 23-18 loss. Yadira Rivera added five points and Amalia Gonzalez led the team with nine rebounds.
