A request to republish the school district’s 2008-2009 budget will be considered at the Emporia board of education meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. Seventh Ave.
The republishing was necessitated when the district learned it likely would receive more state aid than had been estimated in the initial budget approved. School districts must set their budgets in August, but do not receive notification of state aid amounts until after the official student full-time equivalency numbers have been audited, sometime after Sept. 20.
Achievements of school district employees also will be recognized at the meeting. Those scheduled to be honored are Jill Vincent, School Nutrition Association of Kansas Director of the Year; food service staff, Kansas Gold Achievement Award and Excellence Award recipients; and Jeline Harclerode, Emporia Master Teacher.
The board will hear a report on the Lifeskills Program in the district and will have a first reading of the 2009 Emporia High School Enrollment Information and Course Descriptions Guide. Action may be taken on the item.
The board also will hear a report on an amendment to policy.
An executive session has been scheduled to discuss personnel.
