Woods' 25 lead Hartford to overtime victory over Madison

After trailing for most of the game, Hartford’s boys pushed Madison to overtime, then rode the scoring of Craig Woods for a hard-fought win on the final day of the Lebo round-robin tournament.

Woods scored 25 points on Saturday, including two 3-pointers and 10 points in overtime, to give the Jaguars a 62-58 win. Hartford trailed by six at halftime and again at the end of the third quarter, but two 3-pointers and eight points by Woods in the fourth helped the Jaguars force OT.

Woods hit five 3-pointers for the game and went 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Adam Ewy added 15 for Hartford, hitting three treys and joining Woods in making all six of his free-throw tries.

Michael Luthi led Madison with 15 points, Henry Ott had 12 and Kale Schankie had 10. The Bulldogs were hurt by their free-throw shooting; they made just 7-of-15 from the line, all of which came in regulation.

Lebo’s boys got off to a fast start with 29 in the first quarter and held White City to double-digit scoring in just one quarter for an easy win to close out the Wolves’ home tourney.

Devon Johnston helped the Wolves hit the gas early, scoring 11 points and knocking down a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter. Johnston finished with a game-high 15, Adam Laflin and Trevor White each added 12 and Dylan Smith had 11, moving Lebo to 3-0 to start the year.

Hartford 21

Eighteen points from Morgan Stout and 14 from Shelby Buster helped Madison beat Hartford easily, as the Bulldogs held the Jaguars to just six points in the second half.

Paige Hamman and Samantha Wilkerson each had five points for the Jags. Madison was 7-for-8 at the free throw line, while Hartford was just 3-of-10.

White City’s baskets were few and far between as Lebo won easily, holding its visitors to two first-half points.

Morgan Tastove and Morgan Laflin each had 15 for Lebo, but 10 different Wolves got on the board. Jessica Robertson had five, and Taylor Miller and Lauren Schlesener each had four.
