Brownback on tour in area
U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback continues his Kansas County Tour on Thursday with a visit to Council Grove from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office.
From 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., he will hold a town hall meeting and lunch at the Senior Center in Cottonwood Falls.
Those planning to attend the lunch need to make reservations by calling (620) 273-8511. From 2:15 to 3:15 p.m, he will have a Town Hall meeting at the Eureka High School in Eureka.

Southern Lyon education
Southern Lyon County board of education will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Olpe Chicken House and at the business computer laboratory at Olpe High School.
The agenda includes a draft contract for the sale of the former central office building, financial reports and security pledges, consideration of Melissa Laws as a recreation board member, accepting a donation from Gardner memorial for library books, the resignation of Becky Holliday, emergency substitute teachers and cook, the 2009-10 school calendar, budget information, and regularly scheduled reports.
Neosho Rapids city council
The City of Neosho Rapids city council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the community building.
The agenda includes a motion to approve the ordinance for one percent sales tax and an update on the city sewer project. The public is encouraged to attend.
