Free train rides
Free rides on the Sertoma Club’s Little Train in Soden’s Grove will be given to local children from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.
Sertoma President Bob Hush said that the event will be the first time the club has offered free rides during the Christmas season.
The club also has arranged for Santa Claus to be present that afternoon.
“The kids can sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas,” Hush said. “He’ll give them a candy cane.”
This will be the final run for the year, Hush said, and the club remains deeply appreciative of the children’s and the community’s fundraising efforts to get the miniature train refurbished and back on its track.
Money left over from the drive is being used to refurbish the depot and deck around it. Much of that work has been done and is continuing.
“Come down and see us next year with our new depot remodeled and everything,” Hush said.
