Concert opera

Kansas Concert Opera is presenting a “KCO Christmas,” an evening of entertainment for the whole family, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Granada Theatre. The program features Christmas songs; a comedy skit in the spirit of an old-time radio show; holiday music by the Flint Hills Brass Quintet; a performance by 14-year-old violin virtuoso Jonathan Dawson and an appearance by William Allen White, played by actor Jack Wright. The emcee will be Laura Lorson of Kansas Public Radio. Tickets cost $20.

Music concert

The ESU Department of Music fall calendar concludes with the A Cappella Choir, Community Chorus and ESU Orchestra concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in Albert Taylor Hall. General admission is $5; students and senior citizens, $4. Information: 341-5431.

ESU show

ESU Theatre performs “Rabbit Hole” by David Lindsay-Abaire, 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner, at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre. For tickets, call 341-6378.

Christmas show

Dancers from Sherry’s Dance Workshop will present “The Christmas Attic” at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in Albert Taylor Hall. The free performance includes various dance styles choreographed to the music of Trans Siberian Orchestra. After the show, parents may take photos of their children with Santa.

Art gifts

The Emporia Arts Council Art Gifts, 618 Mechanic St., includes glass, ceramics, paintings, textiles, jewelry and wood from more than 50 local and regional artists. Extended hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday through Dec. 30. The EAC will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

Municipal band

The Emporia Municipal Band will present a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Granada Theatre. The concert is free and open to the public, with goodwill offerings accepted for the band to help finance their summer concert series.
