Emporia High’s football team earned selections to seven spots on the second team of this year’s All-Centennial League squad, announced Tuesday.

The Spartans, who finished 5-4, earned two second-team selections on offense: junior fullback Mark Kolmer, who led the Spartans with 817 yards rushing, and senior right tackle Jordan Barr. Three Spartan defenders made the second team: defensive end Cord Stanley, linebacker Justin Krause and cornerback Josh Maguire, all seniors. Senior Taylor Euler was named to the second team for his work at punter and was also named to one of three specialist spots.

Honorable mentions on offense went to Euler at quarterback, senior slotback Corey Bacon, junior center Danny Goodman and and senior right guard T.J. Heins. Defensively, Euler and Kolmer earned honorable mentions as defensive backs.

Junction City, the Class 6A state champion, had eight selections to the first team: quarterback and punter Ty Zimmerman, wide receiver Anthony Caine, tight end Connor Gallentine,offensive tackle Justin Aumen, defensive end Jeff Childs, linebacker Justin Ramos, kicker Andy Birchmeier and specialist Chris Toombs. The Blue Jays’ Randall Zimmerman was named the league’s coach of the year.

Hayden, the Class 4A state champ, had five first-team picks.
