The Emporia State seniors have waited four years to play under the lights at Welch Stadium, and the time has finally arrived this Saturday.
The Hornets will play their first night game in the home opener against Western State at 7 p.m. Saturday since they opened the season Aug. 26, 2004, with a 13-10 win over Fort Hays State.
“First home night game ever for us,” senior Sean Partridge said. “I’m just excited. This is the most excited I remember the team being. We’re just ready to get out there. We’re getting into it with each other. We’re ready to play somebody with a different-colored jersey.”
