The Great American Market will be filled with treasures on Sept. 6. Among those treasures is a Clint Bowyer-themed quilt that will be given to the lucky winner of a raffle drawing.
The quilt, which is as colorful as it is unique, was made by the Emporia Regional Quilters’ Guild. Bowyer, a native Emporian and NASCAR driver, signed the quilt five times on separate blocks. NASCAR Collectibles in Emporia helped secure some of the T-shirts that Bowyer autographed. It also has other autographs by team owner Richard Childress and teammate Kevin Harvick.
The guild decided to make the quilt as a fundraiser. It took about six months to get all the signatures. It was made by Sandy Humphreys; Sue Bluebaugh, who owns Prairie Pieces Quilt Shop; Stacey Clodfelter; Rosetta Fields and was quilted by Sherry Moore. It took about 25 total hours to make but it also took another 25 hours to get the signatures for the quilt, follow-up phone calls and other activities to put the quilt together.
Proceeds from the raffle will go toward educational programs for the quilt guild or community projects. The guild participates in a lot of community projects including making and donating quilts for Shiloh House. The goal is to make enough quilts for each child to take home after leaving the Shiloh House.
Raffle tickets are available now at Prairie Pieces Quilt Shop, 911 Commercial St. Tickets are $1 or six for $5. Raffle tickets will be available the day of the Great American Market in front of Prairie Pieces from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The drawing will be at 3:30 p.m.

Enough with Clint Bowyer already. Yes, he may have done some good things around here, such as donating some time and money, but there are also other people from Emporia and the surrounding areas that have done exceptional things too. What about all the soldiers from the 425th Trans. Co. that left their families to go overseas and all the other people that have done lots of charity work. Just because he went all the "way" to Nascar, doesn't make him that great!

As soon as I saw the headline,I knew there was some charity work involved. This is another good one-I'm up for a few tickets.I just don't pass up a fireman with a boot, the 'polesitter' at ESU,or not buy popcorn or cookies from the Scouts.
