Stinnett takes Super Comp title at HPT

Emporia drag racer Gary Stinnett won the Super Comp title in the NHRA Division V Championships on Saturday night at Heartland Park Topeka.

Stinnett, running against Tommy Phillips of Forney, Texas, in the final, posted a time of 8.917 seconds at 171.53 mph. Phillips finished in 8.899 seconds at 175.78 mph.

Two other Kansans scored victories in the Saturday night runs: John Dasher of Silver Lake in the Super Street championship and Mark Grame of Overland Park in Top Dragster.
