A bowling sponsorship agreement and a process and timeline to choose a new board member are the lone agenda items, beyond the consent agenda, for the Emporia board of education meeting on Wednesday. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Mary Herbert Learning Center.
The board is making plans to replace Homer Garza, who resigned his position on the board at the Aug. 13 meeting.
In addition to approval of staff appointments, resignations and retirements, the consent agenda includes a request to dispose of surplus property at auction, a donation to the EHS athletic department, an appointment to the Emporia Community Foundation board of directors, approval of a Migrant Family Literacy Grant application, and approval of an interlocal agreement with ESSDACK, which operates Turning Point Learning Center.
Items on the consent agenda are routinely approved on one collective vote, although board members may ask to remove an item from the consent agenda and place it on the regular agenda.
