Tech College offers classes for community

“Things To Do with Squashes” will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday by Regina Murphy at the Flint Hills Technical College. The cost is $21. New recipes will be given, including squash puppies, squash relish and squash bread. Other culinary classes at FHTC will be Harvest Preservation: Canning, Dehydrating, Freezing on Sept. 8; How to Make Tamales, Sept. 15; Cuisine of Korea, Oct. 17; Cake Decoratng for Beginners, Oct .18- Nov. 8; Roll Your Own Sushi, Oct. 20; Three Neat Egg Rolls, Oct. 27.

Arts and Crafts classes include The Fine Art of Junking: finding, fixing and displaying flea market treasures, ends Aug. 29; Knitting, Sept. 8-29; Beginning Jewelry: Bezels and Wirework, Sept. 24-Nov. 19; Basic Sewing Techniques (Sessions 1 and 2), Oct. 4 and Oct. 11; Introduction to Floral Design, Oct. 15.

Home and Garden classes include Cheap and Easy Worm Composting, Sept.16; Backyard Strawberries, Sept. 17; Containers, Oct. 7; Houseplant Success, Oct. 14; Beekeeping, Sept. 22-29.

Other classes offered are Language (Basic Spanish for Travelers) Oct. 21-Nov. 20; Microsoft Word Fundamentals, Sept. 6; Financial Workshop for Individual Investors, Sept. 9-30; Aviation Ground School: Private Pilot, Sept. 9-Dec. 2; QuickBooks Fundamentals, Sept. 10-11; Microsoft Word Intermediate, Sept. 13; Computers for Beginners, Sept. 13.
