CARLA CRANE and Bailey Wiggins, who won the state bowling tournament in the parent-teen division. They went on to compete in the international tournament, where they finished 10th out of 33 teams.
• Olpe State Bank, which received a 5-Star Superior rating from Bauer Financial, a bank rating and research firm.
• The Buck Fund, which opened a new foster home-adoption center for cats. The center — the Catty Shack — is at 1018 Commercial Street and is open from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Dave Watts, who won the championship flight of the City Golf Championship. Watts shot a 137 to beat Fletcher Harder and Barry Muninger by three strokes. Bruce Schmid won the first flight and Jermy Hinkle won the second flight.
• Emporia State University and its president, Michael Lane, who received the Defense Patriot Award for the university’s support of students and staff who serve in the military.
