From the Shriners
Ray Terrell - President, Kansas Shrine Bowl Board of Directors
Thursday, August 21, 2008
THE 35th KANSAS Shrine Bowl held in Emporia on July 26, was a BIG success, thanks to everyone from the Emporia area. The final amount raised to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children won’t be known for some time, but the greatest success will be for the children that were tenably accepted as possible patients in our hospitals. At this time four children from this area have been pre-approved for help at a Shriners Hospital. This care and treatment will be 100 percent free to the parents or guardians of the children.
I can’t thank everyone, but a special THANK YOU goes out to the City of Emporia and the Police Department; Emporia State University; Kent Weiser and the Athletic department; Mark Runge from the Facilities department; The Memorial Union; the Residence Hall staff, Police and Safety; The Emporia Gazette; KVOE radio stations; Emporia Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau; Mark Stanbrough for the 5K All Star Cross Country Race; Lori Siebenaler and Deb Fuller for the Poker Run; Francis Scheve and John Deere (PrairieLand) for two motorized mules; and to the hundreds of other people who contributed or sponsored in some way.
Thank you all again and we look forward to the return in 2012 to Emporia.
