Passenger rail meeting
There will be an informational meeting and discussion at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Emporia Public Library regarding the Northern Flyer Alliance and a possible stop in Emporia for a passenger train. The meeting is open to the public. State and local legislators have been invited.
At the meeting, alliance representatives will discuss the next steps in the process including getting the project included in the state’s 10-year transportation plan and how to fund a possible stop in Emporia.

Weaving for children
A natural-weaving class for children will be offered at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Farmers Market in the kiosk at Seventh Avenue and Merchant Street. Members of the Flinthills Weavers and Spinners Guild will show how to weave natural materials on simple, easy-to-use cardboard looms.
Participants will be able to “make a fun natural craft and a special creation and take home a special creation all your own!,” said a news release.
