Speaking to ESU faculty and staff at the fall General Assembly Tuesday afternoon, President Michael Lane presented a draft of the five-year strategic plan the university has been working on since June 2007.
“Dozens of meetings and hundreds, if not thousands, of work hours later, I bring you a working draft of the strategic themes and goals of our five-year plan,” Lane said.
The plan is broken down into five themes: enhancing academic excellence; increasing opportunities for partnerships; expanding international learning opportunities; improving communication among university stakeholders; and providing an attractive, welcoming and sustainable environment for students, employees and visitors.
ESU will offer many opportunities for input and feedback as the plan is refined, Lane said. The university will hold open forums through the fall, with hopes to begin writing the final draft in November. Following approval of the final draft, implementation committees will be appointed to oversee the specific themes and goals of the plan.
“There will be forums specifically for the community, and forums for ESU, which members of the community are invited to attend,” Lane said. “The writing committee needs your participation for the success of this document. ... Look for the specific information about those open forums on Buzz In.”
