Former Chase County High School kicker Grady Fowler is the probable starting kicker for the KU football team this season.
Fowler joined the Jayhawks this fall after playing one season at Butler County Community College. Fowler should be the Jayhawks’ kicker when they start the season, as he is expected to be the only eligible placekicker on the roster.
The Lawrence Journal-World reported today that red-shirt freshman kicker Stephen Hoge had left the team to concentrate on academics, and sophomore Jacob Bransetter could miss the 2008 season because of eligibility issues that stem from his transfer from Air Force.
Fowler originally signed with Emporia State before leaving the program last year to join Butler County. Last season he helped Butler County win a national championship, connecting on eight of 12 field goals and 53 of 55 PATs. He was an All-America honorable mention and made the All-Region and All-Conference first teams.
In high school, Fowler was an All-State first team selection.

I think Emporia State would have won 2-3 more games if they had him! They lost out on Dillon Cox and they also lost out on Ed Noonan

Good luck, Grady. You'll be an asset to the team. All of Chase County should be proud of you.
