Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the Granada Coffee Company. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Tuesday
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in August at the Flying J Truck Stop, 4245 W. Highway 50. Information: Rufus Hobbs, (620) 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m. after dinner at the home of Norma Watson. The program, “Building Futures,” will be given by Jeanine McKenna, chief executive officer and president of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. Those who wish to attend may call Robin Beatty at 366-2594 for reservations.
The Emporia Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Information: Clara Elkins at 342-5274.

Wednesday
The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
The Noon Lions Club meets at noon in the Skyline Room of the ESU Memorial Union.
The Senior Singles group for 50+ singles desiring Christian fellowship meets at noon in the Regency Room at the Best Western Hospitality House 3021 W. Highway 50. The group orders from the men and there is usually a program. For more information, call 342-6186.
The Emporia Gardeners of America Club will not have a regular meeting; instead, they will leave at 7:30 a.m. Saturday from the Wal-Mart parking lot for a bus trip to the Salina area. They do meet at 9:30 a.m. every Wednesday for coffee at Hastings. All are welcome.
Miriam Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
