10:07 a.m.

Commissioners have entered into executive sessions for the remainder of the morning for non-elected personnel and legal issues.

10:01 a.m.

Commissioners passed a resolution closing Fund 52, a no-fund warrant fund which has had no activity in the past several years, and transferring remaining monies from the fund to Fund 50, a bond and interest fund.

Commissioners passed a resolution canceling a purchase order from 2007. The purchase order was relating to the installation of a new server, which was largely installed by the county. The purchase order had to be canceled by resolution.

9:56 a.m.

County commissioners passed a resolution authorizing the levy of a one-percent countywide retailer's sales tax, which voters approved earlier this month.

9:50 a.m.

Commissioners voted to allow County Appraiser Gary Post to attend the 74th International Association of Assessing Officers Conference in Reno, Nev., from Sept. 8 to 11.

9:30 a.m.

Commissioners heard the July financial report from Financial Consultant Bob Agler. Agler said there are no significant negatives in the budgets to discuss and county-wide the general budgets are running at 91.4 percent.

“Really, things are very positive,” Agler told commissioners.

Agler said county revenues are up about $365,000. Interest revenue is declining but isn’t more than anticipated.

The county’s Road and Bridge budget ran about $144,000 over their pro-rated budget.

“It’s frankly something we probably expect to see for maybe the months of July and August,” Agler said. “It’ll probably settle down after that.”

Overtime is running at a 6.9 percent year to year increase, however, the actual overtime county-wide is falling under budget.

9 a.m.

Commissioners passed the consent agenda which includes:

• Approve Chip Woods’, Lyon County engineer, attendance to the MINK 8 Local Road Conference in St. Joseph, Mo., on Oct. 14-15 and pay the $50 registration fee and related travel expenses from Road and Bridge Fund.

• Approve Woods’ attendance to the Information Meeting on the Kansas Local Bridge Inspection Program on Aug. 28 in Topeka.

• Approve the quote from Martin Truck Service for the full rebuild on the engine of a 1992 dump truck for an estimated total of $6,021.93. The price includes a one-year warranty.
