Lyon County commissioners had a full agenda Wednesday morning between county road and bridge discussion items and an update from the Lyon County Appraiser.
Gary Post, Lyon County appraiser, presented an appraisal update to commissioners during Wednesday’s meeting. He said 2006 began a new maintenance cycle and the office is at 37 percent of parcels reviewed.
Post said 51 homes sold during April 2007 with an average sales price of $95,500; 48 homes sold in May 2007 with an average sale price of $103,000. In May 2008, 19 homes sold with an average price of $74,700. The average county value was $75,900. In June 2007, 37 homes sold with an average sale price of $103,300. In June 2008, 26 homes sold for an average sale price of $78,400. The average county value was $84,900.
Forty-eight homes sold in July 2007 with an average sales price of $92,600. Thirty sold in July 2008 at an average price of $65,700. The average county value was $69,300.
In other business, commissioners discussed several items with Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods:
• Road vacation at Road S and Road 110.
• Fuel and asphalt cement surcharges.
• Woods’ attendance to the MINK 8 Local Roads Conference in St. Joseph, Mo., on Oct. 14-15 and pay the $50 registration fee and related travel expenses.
• Woods’ attendance of the Information Meeting on the Kansas Local Bridge Inspection Program on Aug. 29. There is no charge for this conference, Woods said.
• Right-of-way issues at a bridge replacement project on Road G north of Road 30; and on Road 260 between Roads M and N.
• Commissioners discussed the increase in cost for sealing roads. The cost of materials went from $2.11 a gallon in April to $3.87 a gallon. It will increase the cost of asphalt for sealing the roads this year from an estimated $250,000 to $460,000.
