Thanks to the generosity of Wolf Creek workers, Big Brothers Big Sisters will have clothing and other goods to give away next week.
And Courtney Graves, executive director of the agency, hopes the timing will be good for parents looking for back-to-school clothes while also dealing with higher gas, food and other prices.
Graves said the Wolf Creek workers held a massive garage sale to raise money for United Way. When it was over, they decided to donate the remaining items to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
“They’ve got seven truckloads,” Graves said on Friday.
Volunteers from Big Brothers Big Sisters and other United Way agencies will haul the goods to Emporia over the weekend and unpack and organize it on Monday.
From 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, anyone wanting to pick things out can come to a warehouse at 311 Union St., (across from Fremont Park).
Graves, who hadn’t seen the items on Friday afternoon, said she knew there were all sizes of clothing, from infant to adult. She also anticipated there would be some household items.
