Experience matters

I WISH TO STATE that I, too, wholeheartedly support and will cheerfully vote for Peggy Mast for State Representative in the Aug. 5 primary.

I have known her for many years and IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT LESS state spending, LOWER taxes, AND someone who actually has a chance to get what is possible to accomplish done — she is the best person for the job.

I talked to Tony Trimble for most of an hour a few weeks ago about his reasons for running and his ideas for accomplishing “change.” I came away mystified and very troubled. He is in my opinion either completely naive or full of blarney (to put it politely) — or, even more disturbing, perhaps a “Sebelius Republican.” His standard mantra seems to be “state spending is too high,” and the now infamous Barack Obama theme: we need “change.” Most us agree that we would like less spending and we would like “change” but have individual, VERY DIVERSE, opinions of what change we would like. UNDEFINED change is a threat to all of us.

To vote against someone who has PROVEN she is committed to the very things Mr. Trimble claims to support, suggesting that somehow a new person would have better results than a seasoned legislative veteran is more than just a little odd. Experience and a proven track record should be far more important than political promises — INEVITABLY full of hot air. I’m sure that while Mr. Trimble is possibly a very sincere person, he has at the very least overestimated his abilities to accomplish his “stated” goals.

EXPERIENCE AND A PROVEN TRACK RECORD do matter. I recommend you vote in the Tuesday’s primary for Peggy Mast.
