ESU’s Kent finishes 2nd in heptathlon; Saalfeld takes 6th in decathlon at MIAAs

Emporia State’s Brooke Kent finished second in the heptathlon at the MIAA Multi-Events on Monday, posting a provisional-qualfiying point total of 4,586.

With the score, Kent moved to ninth nationally in the event.

Central Missouri’s Anne Carlson won the heptathlon with a score of 4,742.

Ryan Green added an eighth-place showing, as she finished with 3,981 points.

On the men’s side, ESU’s Craig Saalfeld hit a provisional-qualifying mark, earning sixth place with a total of 6,399 points in the decathlon.

Saalfeld now is ranked 20th in the nation in the event.

After one event in the MIAA Championships, the ESU women are second in the team standings with nine points. UCM is in the lead with 23 points.

The ESU men sit in fifth place with three points. UCM is first with 13 points, while Pittsburg State is second with 11.

The remaining events in the MIAA Championships will take place this weekend in Maryville, Mo.
