Layne Sinks’ Web site says it all: www.NoDoOvers.com.
Sinks was a 19-year-old athlete, with a scholarship to play college baseball and being scouted by the Cincinnati Reds, when he hopped into a car with two friends; the driver had been drinking. A subsequent crash left one friend dead and Sinks suffering brain trauma and other injuries. He has re-learned to walk and to drive a car, despite permanent injuries, a news release stated.
Sinks, now 36, will talk to EHS students about getting it right the first time at an 9:30 a.m. assembly on Thursday and at a session for parents at 7 p.m. The presentations are planned in conjunction with a mock DUI crash for students on Tuesday.
