Townsend has another strong day at CBI
Former Emporia State basketball player DeAndre Townsend continued his string of solid performances in the Collegiate Basketball Invitational in Wadsworth, Ohio, on Friday, dishing out a tournament-record 17 assists in his team’s 125-99 victory in the consolation championship.
Townsend also added six points and four rebounds. He now is averaging a double-double — 10 points and 11 assists — in his three CBI games. The guard also has a 5.5-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Wheeler places 8th
in dive at Manhattan
Emporia High diver Jennika Wheeler finished eighth at the Manhattan diving invitational of Friday, posting a score of 188 points.
Wheeler was one of just three EHS divers to make the trip but the only one to finish the 12-dive competition.
Aubrey Armitage went but only competed in the six-dive competition, while Chelsey Kessler also competed in the 12-dive event but got hurt with three dives left and had to be pulled from the competition.
