The Emporia State women’s tennis team registered a shutout against Fort Hays State on Friday, taking a 5-0 victory to secure the No. 4 seed in today’s MIAA Championships.
ESU swept the three doubles matches, then received quick wins from No. 1 player Marcela Bayon and No. 4 player Audrey Sherman to close out the team victory.
The Hornets also were winning all four of their other singles matches when play was stopped.
ESU (12-3, 4-3 MIAA) was scheduled to take on fifth-seeded Washburn at 10 this morning in the MIAA Championships at the Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka.
The ESU men’s tennis team was scheduled to take on Truman at 10 this morning as well.
