EMPORIA STATE University’s Jonel Rossbach, who broke school records in the 10,000 and 5,000-meter runs. She ran the 10,000 -meter run in 35:24:81 and 5,000 meter run in 16:56:21.

- Emporia State University’s Keith Hernandez, whose 10th-inning home run Sunday took the Hornets’ baseball winning streak to 35 games.
- Ronald Blanchard, Kathleen Engle, Penny Ferguson, David Lazerson and Suzanne Ransleben, who have been selected as the 2008 inductees in the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
- Lisa Harkrader and Ann Martin, the 2008 winners of the William Allen White book awards.
- Organizers and participants of the John Blaufuss run/walk. The event raised $10,000 for ESU scholarships.
- The volunteers of CASA. For 12 years, they have provided support for the children of Lyon County who become involved in court proceedings.
- Jacquelyne Leffler, who threw the discus at the Kansas Relays a distance of 152 feet 3 inches which was the 10th best throw in Kansas high school history. The was the second year in a row Leffler has won this event.
- Kansas Bureau of Investigation Agent Bill Halvorsen, who was honored by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with a Guardian of Justice award for his work on the investigation of the murder of Greenwood County Sheriff Matt Samuels.
