Friday, April 25, 2008

The Emporia State baseball team saw its MIAA-record 35 game win streak snapped on Friday, as the Hornets fell to Central Missouri, 5-3, in Warrensburg, Mo.

ESU trailed 5-1 in the top of the ninth before an Eric Shortell two-run home run made it 5-3.

With two outs, Kevin Wempe was hit by a pitch, but Nick Wolfe struck out to end the game.

ESU (42-4, 28-1 MIAA) will continue its series with UCM on Saturday, as the teams play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
