More than $16 million of funding was approved this week in loans and grants to support water projects including funding for a project in Hartford and Neosho Rapids.
The USDA Rural Development announced that Hartford was approved for $688,000 in loans and $677,000 in grants. The project will replace the city’s corroded cast-iron water lines with new lines, new fire hydrants and rehabilitate the existing elevated water storage tank.
Neosho Rapids was approved for $608,000 in loans and $172,000 in grants to convert a three-cell lagoon system into a four-cell lagoon system for 274 residents. The project also will install a new force main, new collection lines and improvements to a lift station.
