Rummage sale
Faith Lutheran Church will have a Rummage Sale from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Indian Taco Feed
The First Church of the Nazarene, 2931 W. 24th Ave., will hold an Indian Taco feed from 4:30 to 7 pm. Saturday at the Potter Beath Activity Center to benefit children and teen camps. Children are $3 and adults are $4.50. For more information contact the church at 342-2858.
Plant sale
The Emporia Gardeners of America will have the 52nd Annual Plant Sale from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Featured in the sale will be a variety of ornamental perennials, annual flowers and bedding plants, vegetable plants, hanging baskets, house plants and water plants. Proceeds from the sale will be used for a variety of community projects, such as college horticulture scholarships, bus tours, beautification awards, county fair horticulture sweepstakes and many other educational programs for youth and adults. Home cooked food will be served during the sale.
Stag supper at Lebo
The Lebo American Legion Post will have a supper Saturday evening at the Legion Hall on Main Street to raise money for the Boys State program.
The menu will include mountain oysters, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans and salad.
Donations will be accepted for Boys State.
Car show
Emporia Brown Express Athletic Club and the ESU Karate Club present the 11th annual Super Custom Car Show on Sunday at the Student Recreation Center, north of the campus. The rain date is May 4. There is no admission charge. Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for best of show, low rider bikes, sound-off stero and unlimited class.. Food vendors will be on site. Events include Fiesta family entertainment. Trophy sponsors are Advanced Auto Body, Jock’s Nitch, Budweiser, Flinthills Mall and Walburn’s Athletic Club. Geneva Anders, ESU business major, will sing the national anthem, accompanied by the 91st Battalion, 635th Armor. Proceeds from the Landon Dody donation raffle for $1,000 in prizes will go to the ESU Hornet Academic Scholarship Fund.
Items wanted
The H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Memorial Fund, Inc. is collecting gently used items from donors to sell at their annual yard sale to raise money for spay/neuter and adoption programs. Anyone interested in donating items to the cause should contact Deb Doudican at buckfundadoptions@cableone.net or call the main office at 343-3377 between 3 and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
