Safety seats for kids
Safe Kids of Emporia will offer a child safety seat inspection session on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Staples, 2200 Industrial Rd. In case of inclement weather, the inspection will be held at Longbine Auto Plaza, 3012 W. Highway 50.
Each participant needs to bring the car primarily used for transportation, the child safety seat, and the child.
The inspections will be conducted by certified Safe Kids Safety Technicians.
The event is co-sponsored by U.S. Cellular, Early Head Start, Bobby D’s, Kiwanis, Gambino’s, Staples, Longbine Auto Plaza, KVOE, The Emporia Gazette, Emporia office of the Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services, and the Kansas Children’s Service League.
Card shower
Former Olpe residents Joe and Bessie Carson will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary May 3. The family said it would enjoy cards, which may be sent to them at 819 S. Kimball, Grand Island, NE 68801.
