The Emporia High girls swim team finished in 10th place at the Wichita Trinity Invitational on Saturday.
EHS coach Bob Yevak said his squad swam well despite grueling recent practices.
“They are very tired,” Yevak said. “Practices will be hard for about one more week.”
The top showing of the day came from the 200 freestyle relay team of Caitlin McGuire, Whitney Starr, Kathryn Scherich and Hilary Larson. They placed sixth in a time of 1:50.55.
The same quartet also came in ninth in the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 4:05.56.
Two Lady Spartans earned top-10 individual finishes, as Larson was 10th in both the 200 freestyle (2:07.79) and the 500 freestyle (5:43.55) while McGuire was 10th in the 100 freestyle (1:00.08).
Starr finished with a pair of 13th-place finishes individually — in the 200 individual medley (2:33.17) and the 100 butterfly (1:08.93).
The EHS swimming and diving team is back in action on Thursday when it plays host to the Emporia Invite.
