Birthday celebration
Winifred Gatewood celebrates her 90th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. May 3 in the Americus United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Friends, neighbors and relatives are invited to drop by and say hello. Cards may be sent to Winifred Gatewood, Presbyterian Manor, 2300 Industrial Road, Emporia, KS 66801.
Sesquicentennial book
The books may be ordered for $25 plus $5 postage for mailiing, if desired. Order forms are available at the Americus Township Library, City Hall, or by contacting Elizabeth Voorhees, 342-5707. The book will go to the printer on May 1 and will be available during the May 24 Alumni celebration.
Chamber news
The first quarterly dinner will be Tuesday at the Americus United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Jan Huston will review the historical bus tour around the Americus area taken during the past summer. The meeting is open to the public. For reservations, call Melissa Rich, (620) 443-5480.
A social time will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30.
