Pair of ESU athletes earn provisional marks on Friday

The Emporia State track and field teams picked up two provisional qualifiers at two different meets on Friday, as Connie Philips and Jaclyn Sill posted strong marks in their respective events.
At the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Phillips finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 145 feet.
Meanwhile, Sill posted her provisional mark at the Azusa Pacific Invitational in Azusa, Calif., finishing 10th with a time of 56.80 seconds in the 400-meter run.
ESU had a total of six top-eight finishes on Friday. The men’s distance medley team (10:49.10) and shot putter Damon Birk (50 feet, 2 inches) were both seventh at the Kansas Relays, while Jennifer Robinson (high jump, 5-5) and Skyler Delmott (3,000-meter steeplechase, 9:45.87) took eighth.
The Hornets’ 4x100 relay team also qualified for the finals with a time of 42.46 seconds.
