Girl Scout event
The Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland invites all Emporia and surrounding area fifth-through eight-grade girls to attend a “fun-filled event, ‘Uniquely Me,’ where participants will learn the true definition of beauty and get tips on how they can lead a healthy lifestyle that boosts their self-esteem,” said a news release.
The event will be held 3 to 6 p.m. April 23 and April 30 at the Emporia Middle School, with reservations due by Monday. To register, call 342-4532. Girls do not have to be members of the Girl Scouts to attend. The Girl Scouts are partners with Project QUEST.
Computer classes
The Emporia Public Library is offering two sessions of “Computers for Beginners” classes on Monday and April 29. Each class will cover basic computer operation and the use of the mouse. No experience is necessary. Each class will be from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the library and limited to 14 people. To register, call 340-6462. Those not registered may be turned away if classes are full.
“Travel Kansas: Bigger than you think!” is a computer class about finding information for traveling within Kansas. It will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Flint Hills Technical College. Librarians Lynette Olson and Carmaine Ternes will be the instructors.
